श्रीकृष्ण उवाच सर्वैर्गुणैर्महाराज राजसूयं त्वमर्हसि जानतस्त्वेव ते सर्वं किंचिद्वक्ष्यामि भारत
Kṛṣṇā said: "O great king! Because of all your qualities, you are capable of performing rājasūya. O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! Though you know everything, I shall tell you something.
कृष्ण ने कहा: "हे महान राजा! अपने सभी गुणों के कारण, आप राजसूय करने में सक्षम हैं। हे भरत वंश के वंशज! यद्यपि आप सब कुछ जानते हैं, फिर भी मैं आपको कुछ बताऊंगा।
O lord of the earth! O bull among the Bhārata lineage! You know about the rules and the authority of words those kṣatriya-s established to decide lineage.
हे पृथ्वी के स्वामी! हे भरत वंश में बैल! आप वंश निर्धारण के लिए क्षत्रियों द्वारा स्थापित नियमों और शब्दों के अधिकार के बारे में जानते हैं।
O king! O bull among the Bhārata lineage! Know that the kings from Aila's lineage and those from Ikṣvāku's lineage constitute one hundred and one dynasties.
हे राजा! हे भरत वंश में बैल! जान लें कि ऐल के वंश के राजा और इक्ष्वाकु के वंश के राजा एक सौ एक राजवंश हैं।

O great king! The descendants of Yayāti and Bhojā are also great in number and qualities and extend in the four directions.
हे महान राजा! ययाति और भोज के वंशज भी संख्या और गुणों में महान हैं और चारों दिशाओं में फैले हुए हैं।
They and their prosperity are worshipped everywhere by the kṣatriya-s. However, after having enjoyed the middle kingdom,

a king named Chaturyu, one of the one hundred and one dynasties, wished to create dissension among them. Jarāsandha has inherited the empire by birth and that king's influence extends everywhere.
चतुर्यु नामक एक राजा, जो एक सौ एक राजवंशों में से एक था, उनमें फूट पैदा करना चाहता था। जरासंध को साम्राज्य जन्म से ही विरासत में मिला था और उस राजा का प्रभाव हर जगह फैला हुआ था।

तमेव च महाराज शिष्यवत्समुपस्थितः वक्रः करूषाधिपतिर्मायायोधी महाबलः
Vakra, the immensely strong king of Kārūṣa, who fights with the powers of māyā, and many other immensely valorous and great-souled ones, are also under his protection.
वक्रा, कारूषा के अत्यंत शक्तिशाली राजा, जो माया की शक्तियों से लड़ते हैं, और कई अन्य अत्यंत वीर और महान आत्मा वाले भी उनके संरक्षण में हैं।
And there are Dantavakra, Kārūṣa, Kalabha and Meghavāhana. There is also he who on his forehead wears a divine gem that is known as the supreme gem on earth.
और दंतवक्र, कारूष, कलाभा और मेघवाहन हैं। एक ऐसा भी व्यक्ति है जो अपने माथे पर एक दिव्य रत्न धारण करता है जिसे पृथ्वी पर सर्वोच्च रत्न के रूप में जाना जाता है।

मातुलो भवतः शूरः पुरुजित्कुन्तिवर्धनः स ते संनतिमानेकः स्नेहतः शत्रुतापनः
your brave maternal uncle, Purujit, the extender of the Kuru lineage and the scorcher of his enemies, is the only king who is affectionately loyal to you.
आपके वीर मामा पुरुजित, कुरु वंश के विस्तारक और शत्रुओं को भस्म करने वाले एकमात्र राजा हैं जो आपके प्रति स्नेहपूर्वक वफादार हैं।

Likewise, the evil king of the Cedi-s, whom I did not kill earlier, has also gone over to Jarāsandha.
इसी प्रकार, सेडिस का दुष्ट राजा, जिसे मैंने पहले नहीं मारा था, वह भी जरासंध के पास चला गया है।

आत्मानं प्रतिजानाति लोकेऽस्मिन्पुरुषोत्तमम् आदत्ते सततं मोहाद्यः स चिह्नं च मामकम्
He is known in the world as the supreme being and out of delusion, always bears my signs.
वह संसार में सर्वोच्च पुरुष के रूप में जाना जाता है और भ्रमवश सदैव मेरे संकेतों को धारण करता है।
There is also a king powerful in Vaṅga, Puṇḍra and Kirāta, known as Vāsudeva of Puṇḍra.
वंग, पुंड्र और किरात में एक शक्तिशाली राजा भी है, जिसे पुंड्र के वासुदेव के नाम से जाना जाता है।

चतुर्युः स महाराज भोज इन्द्रसखो बली विद्याबलाद्यो व्यजयत्पाण्ड्यक्रथककैशिकान्
O great king! There is also the powerful Bhīṣmaka Chaturyu of Bhojā, a friend of Indra's and a slayer of enemies. Through his learning and strength, he has conquered Pāṇḍya and Krathakaishika.
हे महान राजा! भोज का शक्तिशाली भीष्मक चतुर्यु भी है, जो इंद्र का मित्र और शत्रुओं का संहारक है। अपनी विद्या और शक्ति से उसने पाण्ड्य और क्रथकैशिका पर विजय प्राप्त की है।

भ्राता यस्याहृतिः शूरो जामदग्न्यसमो युधि स भक्तो मागधं राजा भीष्मकः परवीरहा
The valorous Āhṛti is his brother and is like Jāmadagni Rāma in battle. They also serve the king of Māgadha.
वीर आहुति उनके भाई हैं और युद्ध में जमदग्नि राम के समान हैं। वे मगध के राजा की भी सेवा करते थे।
We are his relatives and always do what is agreeable to him. But though we honour him, he doesn't honour us and always does what is disagreeable to us.
हम उनके रिश्तेदार हैं और हमेशा वही करते हैं जो उन्हें मंजूर हो. परन्तु यद्यपि हम उसका आदर करते हैं, परन्तु वह हमारा आदर नहीं करता और सदैव वही करता है जो हमें अप्रिय लगता है।

न कुलं न बलं राजन्नभिजानंस्तथात्मनः पश्यमानो यशो दीप्तं जरासंधमुपाश्रितः
O king! Without bearing in mind his lineage and his strength, he has only seen Jarāsandha's blazing fame and has placed himself under him.
हे राजा! उसकी वंशावली और उसकी ताकत को ध्यान में रखे बिना, उसने केवल जरासंध की चमकती प्रसिद्धि को देखा है और खुद को उसके अधीन रखा है।

उदीच्यभोजाश्च तथा कुलान्यष्टादशाभिभो जरासंधभयादेव प्रतीचीं दिशमाश्रिताः
O lord! Out of fear for Jarāsandha, the eighteen branches of the northern Bhojā-s have fled to the west
हे भगवान! जरासंध के डर से उत्तरी भोज की अठारह शाखाएँ पश्चिम की ओर भाग गई हैं
and so have the Śūrasena-s, the Bhadrakāra-s, the Bodha-s, the Śālva-s, the Paṭaccara-s, the Sustharas, the Sukuṭṭa-s, the Kuṇinda-s and the Kuntī-s.
और इसी प्रकार शूरसेन, भद्रकार, बोध, शाल्व, पटक्कार, सुस्थरस, सुकुंत, कुणिंद और कुंती भी हैं।

शाल्वेयानां च राजानः सोदर्यानुचरैः सह दक्षिणा ये च पाञ्चालाः पूर्वाः कुन्तिषु कोशलाः
The kings of the Śālveya-s, together with their brothers and attendants, the southern Pāñcāla-s and the eastern Koshalas from the Kuntī region have also fled.
शाल्वे के राजा, अपने भाइयों और सेवकों के साथ, कुंती क्षेत्र से दक्षिणी पंचाल और पूर्वी कोशल भी भाग गए हैं।
and in a desire to save their relatives, they concluded an alliance with us. I served my relatives by marrying off Āhuka's daughter, Sutanu, to Akrūra.
और अपने रिश्तेदारों को बचाने की चाहत में, उन्होंने हमारे साथ गठबंधन किया। आहुक की पुत्री सुतनु का विवाह अक्रूर से करके मैंने अपने रिश्तेदारों की सेवा की।
O king! Though that immediate danger was averted, Jarāsandha rose up in arms against us. The eighteen branches of the Yādava-s consulted among themselves.
हे राजा! यद्यपि वह तात्कालिक ख़तरा टल गया था, जरासंध हमारे विरुद्ध हथियार उठा कर खड़ा हो गया। यादवों की अठारह शाखाओं ने आपस में परामर्श किया।
O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! A rumour spread that Haṃsa had been killed. On hearing that Haṃsa had been killed, Dibhika drowned himself in the Yāmuna and,
हे भरत वंश के वंशज! अफवाह फैल गई कि हंसा मारा गया। यह सुनकर कि हंस मारा गया, दिभिका ने खुद को यमुना में डुबो लिया और,
After thinking about this, we sought refuge in the western directions. O king! There is a beautiful city known as Kuśasthalī, adorned by Mount Raivata.
इस पर विचार करने के बाद हमने पश्चिमी दिशाओं में शरण ली। हे राजा! रैवत पर्वत से सुशोभित कुशस्थली नामक एक सुंदर नगर है।
It was not just the bulls among the Vṛṣṇi-s, even the women were capable of fighting from there. O killer of enemies! Without any fear, we now live there.
वृष्णियों में केवल बैल ही नहीं थे, यहाँ तक कि स्त्रियाँ भी वहाँ से लड़ने में सक्षम थीं। हे शत्रुओं के संहारक! बिना किसी डर के अब हम वहां रहते हैं.
Our habitation is three yojanā-s deep and extends for three yojanā-s. At intervals of one yojanā, there are one hundred gates and the portals are guarded by brave and valorous kṣatriya-s from the eighteen branches.
हमारा निवास स्थान तीन योजन गहरा है और तीन योजन तक फैला हुआ है। एक योजन के अंतराल पर, एक सौ द्वार हैं और द्वार अठारह शाखाओं के बहादुर और वीर क्षत्रियों द्वारा संरक्षित हैं।
They are brave, capable of destroying the worlds, valorous and endowed with immense strength. They have now remembered the middle country and live there, among the Vṛṣṇi-s.
वे बहादुर हैं, दुनिया को नष्ट करने में सक्षम हैं, वीर हैं और अपार ताकत से संपन्न हैं। अब उन्हें मध्य देश की याद आ गई है और वे वृष्णियों के बीच वहीं रहते हैं।

स त्वं सम्राड्गुणैर्युक्तः सदा भरतसत्तम क्षत्रे सम्राजमात्मानं कर्तुमर्हसि भारत
O supreme among the Bhārata lineage! O descendant of the Bhārata lineage! You alone possess the qualities of becoming a universal emperor. You are capable of becoming the sovereign of the kṣatriya-s.
हे भरतवंशियों में श्रेष्ठ! हे भरत वंश के वंशज! आपमें ही विश्व सम्राट बनने के गुण हैं। आप क्षत्रियों के स्वामी बनने में सक्षम हैं।
O great king! Out of fear for Jarāsandha, we too have had to abandon Mathurā and have fled to the city of Dvāravatī.
हे महान राजा! जरासंध के भय से हमें भी मथुरा छोड़कर द्वारवती नगरी में भागना पड़ा है।

यदि त्वेनं महाराज यज्ञं प्राप्तुमिहेच्छसि यतस्व तेषां मोक्षाय जरासंधवधाय च
O great king! If you wish to perform the sacrifice, seek to set them free and kill Jarāsandha.
हे महान राजा! यदि आप यज्ञ करना चाहते हैं, तो उन्हें मुक्त करने और जरासंध को मारने का प्रयास करें।

समारम्भो हि शक्योऽयं नान्यथा कुरुनन्दन राजसूयस्य कार्त्स्न्येन कर्तुं मतिमतां वर
O descendant of the Kuru lineage! Without this, your sacrifice cannot commence. O supreme among those who are wise! This alone can lead to rājasūya.
हे कुरु वंश के वंशज! इसके बिना आपका यज्ञ प्रारम्भ नहीं हो सकता। हे बुद्धिमानों में श्रेष्ठ! केवल यही राजसूय की ओर ले जा सकता है।

इत्येषा मे मती राजन्यथा वा मन्यसेऽनघ एवं गते ममाचक्ष्व स्वयं निश्चित्य हेतुभिः
O king! O unblemished one! This is my view. Do you think otherwise? After reflecting on everything yourself and on cause and effect, tell us what is appropriate.
हे राजा! हे निष्कलंक! यह मेरा विचार है. क्या आप अन्यथा सोचते हैं? प्रत्येक बात पर स्वयं तथा कारण-प्रभाव पर विचार करके हमें बतायें कि क्या उचित है।
